Thursdays with the Bees – Discover the Fascinating World of Honey Bees in Findhorn

If you've ever wondered what really happens inside a beehive, this summer is your chance to find out.
Hosted by the Findhorn Hinterland Trust, Thursdays with the Bees is a unique weekly experience that takes visitors behind the scenes of a working apiary in the beautiful surroundings of the Findhorn Hinterland. Running every Thursday (weather permitting) until 24th September, these relaxed and informative sessions are perfect for anyone with an interest in nature, wildlife or sustainable living.
Step Inside a Working Beehive
Led by experienced local beekeepers with decades of knowledge, each session offers a rare opportunity to witness a live hive inspection and learn about the incredible lives of honey bees.
You'll discover:
How a honey bee colony functions
The important role bees play in pollinating our countryside
How beekeepers care for healthy hives
What to look for during a hive inspection
Why protecting bees is so important for our environment
No previous beekeeping experience is required, making this an ideal activity for complete beginners as well as those wanting to learn more about these remarkable insects. All protective clothing is provided – simply wear sturdy outdoor footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.
A Great Family Activity
Suitable for ages 8 and above, the sessions are a fantastic way for families to spend time together outdoors while learning something new. Children under 16 can attend free when accompanied by an adult, making it an affordable and memorable holiday activity. A suggested donation of £10 per adult helps support the work of the Findhorn Hinterland Trust.
