Learn from Passionate Local Experts
The workshop is led by three highly experienced beekeepers – Jonathan Caddy, John Willoner and Martin Harker – who together bring decades of practical beekeeping knowledge and teaching experience. Their enthusiasm for honey bees is infectious, making the day both educational and enjoyable.
Throughout the workshop, you'll gain a fascinating insight into:
The incredible life cycle of honey bees
How bee colonies work together as a community
The equipment used in modern beekeeping
The essential role bees play in pollinating plants and supporting biodiversity
How beekeepers care for their colonies while harvesting delicious surplus honey
With over 100 million years of coexistence alongside flowering plants, honey bees are among nature's most important pollinators. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to better understand their importance and discover how we can all help protect them.
A Genuine Hands-On Experience
This isn't just a talk—you'll get to experience real beekeeping in action.
All protective clothing and equipment are provided, so there's no need to purchase anything before attending. If you have a pair of wellington boots, it's recommended that you bring them along, although boots can usually be borrowed if required.
For everyone's safety, organisers ask that anyone with a known or suspected allergy to bee stings lets them know before attending.
A Brilliant Family Activity
Children aged 8 and over are welcome when accompanied by an adult, making this an unforgettable family experience. Young nature lovers will have the chance to see bees up close while learning why these tiny insects have such a huge impact on our environment.
